As the fireworks lit up the sky during the Hogmany celebrations, Scotland welcomed a new year and a brand new theme. The themed year is once again being led by the Scottish Government in collaboration with a range partners, such as Young Scot and the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Expect to see a lot more youth panels, co-designing and young ambassadors in the heritage sector and beyond. Upcoming events range from a night (or “knight”) of activities at Edinburgh Castle to a time travelling tour at the National Mining Museum.

You’ll also be seeing a lot of new partnerships and projects, such as the recently launched Go Roman app (pictured) from Historic Environment Scotland and The Glasgow School of Art. The free app was designed to inspire young people, although players of all ages can complete challenges and quests while discovering what life was like at a Roman fort along the Antonine Wall.
