Excavation at Fairnilee 2026

After some more successful geophysical survey at Fairnilee medieval moated enclosure, the Uncovering the Tweed team are planning to return to open up a larger trench across the interior of the enclosure. The resistivity survey (see image) shows some really clear definition on the ditches but the interior remains a bit of a mystery.

Excavation will take place Monday 11 to Tuesday 19 May (NOT Sunday 17) at the recently identified Fairnilee moated enclosure. Please book a space for each of the days you would like to come on the Eventbrite link below. You are welcome to come along for just a day as a taster or for more! If you are able we would recommend booking consecutive days to get more experience in different parts of the process.
