Scottish Archaeology Month 2026

Scottish Archaeology Month (SAM) is here! Archaeology Scotland invites everyone to dig in and explore events and places to visit in your local area and beyond.

It’s a true cornucopia of events this year, with lots of excavations, open days, festivals, traditional skills workshops, guided walks, exhibitions, talks and various online events.

Coordinated by Archaeology Scotland, SAM takes place every year in September but includes events running from the end of August until mid-October.

Please note that this event is not being coordinated by Dig It!. While Dig It! takes every opportunity to ensure that this information is accurate, we advise that you contact the event organiser before attending the event to avoid disappointment.
