Featured Fieldwork Organiser: 1722 Waggonway Heritage Group

The Waggonway Project is a community heritage project run by the 1722 Waggonway Heritage Group, which was created to interpret, preserve and enhance the route and associated industries & environments of Scotland’s first railway, the 1722 Tranent – Cockenzie Waggonway in East Lothian.

Notable Fieldwork in Scotland: Since 2017, the team have run community excavations uncovering the 17^th-centuy salt pans in Cockenzie, evidence of the lost 18^th-century Port Seton Glassworks, and searching for the original waggonway line, uncovering 300-year-old timbers in 2021.
