2025/26 Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel Launch Event

The Treasure Trove Unit (TTU) oversees the system ensures that archaeological finds recovered in Scotland are publicly recorded and protected for the benefit of the nation for years to come.

Every year, the TTU publish a report on all the finds reported to them in that year which have been claimed by the Crown and have been allocated to a museum in Scotland, making them available for research, study and public enjoyment.

The King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR)—the Crown’s representative in Scotland who work with the TTU—are hosting a launch event for the upcoming 2025/26 report and you’re invited. This event highlights the collaborative efforts throughout the Treasure Trove Scotland process to ensure that Scotland’s archaeological heritage is preserved, studied, and shared with the public.

Come along to Trimontium Museum in Melrose to see a collection of star finds from the Scottish Borders featured in this year’s report and to celebrate another year of exciting artefacts entering public collections!

FINDS DAY

Do you have archaeological finds to report? The Treasure Trove Unit will also be at Trimontium Museum on Saturday 19 September to host a Finds Day from 10:30 to 16:00. If you would like to book an appointment to report and deposit finds, please follow this link.
