Haylie Chambered Cairn Excavation

Local group “The Largs Neolithic Tombsters” and the Adopt-a-Monument Team from Archaeology Scotland will be excavating at Haylie Chambered Cairn and specifically the 20^th century spoil heap that came out of the chamber during the original 1950’s excavations.

As part of the excavation, daily site tours will be offered to members of the public. The tour will be about the whole history of the site as well as the archaeological dig itself. Come along and learn about this 5,000-year-old monument in Largs, see an excavation in process, and find out how the local community group are looking after the site.

The tours are free and will start daily at 2pm.

Meet at the main driveway entrance to Douglas Park where the tour will start.

Please note that this event is not being coordinated by Dig It!.
