Orkney Archaeology Festival 2026

Welcome to this year’s Orkney Archaeology Festival — “a celebration of discovery, community and the remarkable stories written into Orkney’s landscape.” Now in its second year, the festival brings five days of guided walks, expert talks, hands‑on workshops and special access to some of Orkney’s most iconic archaeological sites.

Explore Neolithic monuments with Historic Environment Scotland rangers, climb into the hidden upper levels of St Magnus Cathedral, join full‑day adventures on Papa Westray, meet the Ness of Brodgar team, or dive into Iron Age, Viking and wartime heritage through interactive events across the islands.

“Whether you are a local resident, a returning visitor or discovering Orkney’s archaeology for the first time,” the festival offers fresh ways to connect with Orkney’s past — and with the people who care for it today.
