Skaill Farm Excavation 2026

The excavation of the multi-period settlement site at Skaill, Rousay resumes in July.

The site, which was in use from the Norse period until the 19th century, is also the home to a large Norse hall. Found beneath the more recent buildings, this structure was revealed in 2019 and probably dates to the 10th to 12th centuries AD.

Visitors welcome on weekdays throughout the digging period from 10am to 4pm.

While Dig It! takes every opportunity to ensure that this information is accurate, we advise that you contact the event organiser before attending the event to avoid disappointment.
